Vietnam-Laos Leverage Digital Transformation to Boost Trade Promotion
In recent years, the Trade Promotion Agency of Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has played a pivotal role in fostering and advancing digital trade between Vietnam and Laos. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on September 5, 1962, the two countries have achieved numerous milestones across various fields. From 2016 to 2021, trade turnover between Vietnam and Laos has seen stable growth, consistently exceeding the $1 billion mark annually. In 2022, trade turnover reached $1.632,2 million, marking an 18.9% increase compared to 2021.

Hue, Vietnam – The enduring friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos were celebrated and reaffirmed at the Vietnam-Laos Fair and Exhibition, a highlight of the "Vietnam-Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023." The event, which took place from November 11 to 15, was organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province.

In a significant move to strengthen bilateral ties and technological infrastructure, Vietnam has made substantial investments in Laos, totaling nearly $5.5 billion across 241 projects over the past six decades. A key aspect of this investment includes the expansion of 4G coverage and the provision of high-speed internet services to the Laotian populace.
