Ministry of Industry and Commerce notifies vehicle import companies to check conditions for the import of vehicles for distribution in Lao PDR
Ministry of Industry and Commerce’s monitoring on vehicle import found that there are large numbers of vehicles import for distribution companies in Lao PDR. Among these companies, there are both operating and non-operating companies but did not inform their intention to the authority of vehicles import and export management.
Therefore, in order to concisely manage vehicles import and in compliance with regulations, Ministry of Industry and Commerce issues the Notification on Checking Conditions for Companies to Import Vehicle for Distribution in Lao PDR for 2017 No. 1270/MOIC.DIMEX, dated 09 June 2017. The notification notifies 73 vehicle import companies (see the company list here) to submit their letter of intent for import and distribution of vehicles as follows:
1. For companies those intent to continuously import vehicles for distribution shall prepare following documents:
- A copy of Enterprise Registration Certificate
- A copy of Tax Certificate
- A copy of Annual Tax Payment Certificate
- Dealership Agreement (information of focal point of the company)
2. For companies those wish to cease the import of vehicles shall submit a letter of intent to Department of Import and Export.
The companies shall notify Department of Import and Export on 12th June - 14th July 2017. After that period, if the companies did not notify their intention to the Department, the Department will not approve their request to import vehicle. These companies will be removed from the list of qualified vehicles import companies and they will not be able to import vehicles.
