    In a powerful reaffirmation of their long-standing and unique friendship, the Prime Ministers of Vietnam and Laos have agreed to intensify efforts to boost economic cooperation and bilateral trade, aiming for a breakthrough target of USD 5 billion in trade turnover. The agreement was reached during a high-level meeting held on April 16 at the Government Headquarters in Hanoi, as Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone visited Vietnam to attend the Fourth P4G Summit—a forum dedicated to advancing global efforts toward inclusive and sustainable green growth.

    In a remarkable demonstration of deepening economic cooperation, two-way trade between Vietnam and Laos reached an impressive USD 980.1 million in the first quarter of 2025, marking a substantial year-on-year increase of 105.5% compared to the same period in 2024. Vietnam’s exports to Laos recorded significant momentum, surging to USD 346.4 million, representing a sharp 138.6% increase, while imports from Laos also experienced solid growth, rising by 91.1% to USD 633.6 million. These figures not only reflect the economic dynamism between the two nations but also underscore the growing interdependence that continues to characterize Vietnam–Laos trade relations.

    On the afternoon of March 24, in a gesture of enduring solidarity and mutual respect, a delegation from Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), led by Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Nghị, Member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, visited the Consulate General of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in HCMC. The visit took place in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (March 22, 1955 – March 22, 2025), a historic milestone that not only honors the resilience of the Lao people but also highlights the unbreakable bonds between Vietnam and Laos.
