The visit, made at the invitation of General Vilay Lakhamphong, Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Public Security of Laos, coincided with the 18th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime in Vientiane.

Vietnam and Laos Explore the Use of Local Currencies for Trade and Investment
The central banks of Vietnam and Laos have recently held discussions to advance the use of their local currencies, the Lao kip and the Vietnamese dong, in bilateral trade and investment. The discussions, which took place during a professional workshop titled "Promoting the Use of Local Currencies between Laos and Vietnam," aim to reduce external risks by encouraging the use of the Lao kip and Vietnamese dong in commercial transactions and investments between the two countries.

Vietnam-Laos Joint Cooperation Committee Conducts Mid-term Evaluation of Bilateral Partnership Progress
On the afternoon of August 16, in Cua Lo, Nghe An, a mid-term conference was held to evaluate the implementation of the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Plan Agreement for 2024 and to review and promote the bilateral cooperation agreement between the two countries for the period of 2021-2025, co-chaired by the leaders of the Ministries of Planning and Investment of both countries.
