The recent official visit by Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, alongside his participation in the 45th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45), has further deepened the special bond between Vietnam and Laos. This significant diplomatic effort is set to expand the scope of their longstanding relationship, fostering opportunities for joint progress.

Based on the longstanding solidarity and bond between them, the governments of Vietnam and Laos are working hard to promote trade cooperation with the goal of achieving a bilateral trade turnover of over 2 billion USD per year. The recently signed Vietnam-Laos Trade Agreement will serve as a favourable leverage for both countries to reach this goal soon.

On the evening of October 19, National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn concluded a successful official visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic and attended the 45th AIPA General Assembly (AIPA-45). This working trip holds special significance in consolidating and enhancing the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, elevating it to new heights, while also actively and effectively contributing to the activities of AIPA-45.

The event highlighted the growing need to maximize the advantages of Vietnam-Laos border trade, focusing on economic cooperation and cross-border trade development.
