Rooted in shared struggles for national independence and freedom, the connection between the two nations is shaped by their geographical closeness along the Trường Sơn mountain range and the Mekong River. The 10 provinces of Laos that share borders with 10 provinces of Vietnam have fostered deep political, economic, and cultural ties. These border communities have consistently supported each other, particularly during times of natural disasters and conflicts, strengthening a spirit of mutual trust and cooperation.
