VN, Laos, Cambodia boost security cooperation
Security ministers of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia gathered at a friendship meeting in Hanoi on August 17 to promote cooperation among the three countries’ security forces.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Minister of Public Security To Lam welcomed Cambodia’s high-ranking delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Sar Kheng, and the Lao delegation, headed by Minister of Security Somkeo Silavon, to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties and the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations.
He said that the Vietnamese public security force is proud of having Cambodian and Laos friends and colleagues who always give wholehearted and effective cooperation and assistance during the cause of safeguarding national security and social order and safety.
In the fight against transnational organised crimes, the three countries’ security forces have effectively coordinated in busting many major drug and human trafficking rings and arresting wanted persons.
Amid the intensive international integration and more complicated activities of hostile forces, reactionaries and transnational organised crimes, the close collaboration between the three countries’ security forces is extremely important to protect national security and social order and safety in each country.
The forces should cooperate closely in rejecting allegations aimed at undermining the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos and between Vietnam and Cambodia on mass media as well as combating terrorism, transnational crimes and other non-traditional crimes, Lam noted.
The Vietnamese official expressed his belief that the three countries’ security forces will further their cooperation, not letting any hostile forces and crime organisations to harm security and order in each country and actively contributing to their nations’ economic development and integration integration.
For their parts, Sar Kheng and Somkeo Silavon wished that the collaboration between the three ministries will continue to thrive and reap practical results in all areas, contributing to maintaining social order and safety as well as ensuring national security in their countries.
