Vietnam-Laos trade fair helps promote comprehensive bilateral relationship

According to the Vietnam News Agency in Laos, implementing the National Trade Promotion Program in 2019, on the afternoon of June 27 at the Laos International Trade, Exhibition & Conference (ITECC) in Vientiane, Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, the Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with Laos’ Trade Promotion Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade opened Vietnam - Laos Trade Fair 2019 (VIETLAO EXPO 2019).

Attending the opening ceremony were Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao Quoc Hung, Lao Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phanhthong Phitthoumma, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung, and representatives of related authorities of the two countries; associations, press agencies of Vietnam and Laos.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao Quoc Hung said that the two countries should focus on implementing their signed commitments and trade agreements, and promoting the development of traffic and trade infrastructure.

Specifically, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the two countries have agreed and implemented many important contents on trade cooperation, such as jointly build a project on Vietnam-Laos trade development in 2017-2026, with a vision to 2035; and signed a memorandum of understanding on establishing a website on Vietnam-Laos economic and trade cooperation.

In addition, The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade has also approved a master plan to develop the Vietnam – Laos border market network by 2020; a project to develop warehouses at border gates of Vietnam - Laos to 2025, with a vision to 2035.

Vietnam - Laos Trade Fair 2019 has over 240 from 180 enterprises of both countries. Vietnamese enterprises are mainly exhibiting pharmaceutical products and medical equipment; industrial machinery, construction material, agro-forestry-aquaculture products, textiles, handicrafts and decorations, plastic and consumer goods.
