13th November 2023 post by MOIT Vietnam

Hue, Vietnam – The enduring friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos were celebrated and reaffirmed at the Vietnam-Laos Fair and Exhibition, a highlight of the "Vietnam-Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023." The event, which took place from November 11 to 15, was organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province.

On November 13, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and Chairman of the Central propaganda and training commission, visited and provided guidance at the exhibition. His presence underscored the significance of the event in strengthening the special bond between the two nations, a relationship that has flourished since the establishment of diplomatic ties on September 5, 1962.

The “Vietnam-Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023” was a grand affair, attended by numerous central and local departments and agencies, along with citizens from both countries. The event served as a meaningful platform to further enrich the unique and special traditional relationship shared by Vietnam and Laos.

The photo exhibition at the festival featured 200 photographs divided into four thematic categories: the 61-year history of special friendship between Vietnam and Laos; both countries on the path of development; notable achievements in Vietnam-Laos cooperation in the field of Information and Communications; and Thua Thien Hue Province’s journey alongside the national development.

Nearly 60 booths were set up at the fair and exhibition, with highlights including information publications and communication programs in Lao by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Nhan Dan (The People) Newspaper, Voice of Vietnam (VOV), and the national foreign information portal Vietnam.vn.

The event also saw participation from information technology and telecommunications enterprises such as Viettel Global, VNPT, and VTC; as well as businesses from the tourism and trade sectors showcasing distinctive OCOP (One Commune, One Product) products from Hue and other central provinces and cities.

The “Vietnam-Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023” encompassed a series of significant events that reflected the deep-rooted friendship between the people of the two countries. These included the photo exhibition, fair and exhibition, scientific seminars, and cultural exchange activities, all of which highlighted the strong and enduring ties of Vietnam-Laos relations.
