Vietnam - Laos: Continue to well implement key projects
During the visit and co-chair of the 7th Annual Vietnam-Laos Foreign Minister's Political Consultation, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Lao Foreign Minister agreed to support and coordinate coordinating with the concerned ministries and branches of the two countries to well implement the agreements, programs and projects on Vietnam-Laos cooperation, especially key cooperation projects.
Information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, implementing the Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Laos, received the invitation of Laos Foreign Minister Saleumsay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh Officially visit Laos from November 29-30, 2020 and co-chair the 7th Annual Political Consultation at the level of Vietnam - Laos Minister of Foreign Affairs, in conjunction with the urge to implement key cooperation projects between two countries.
At the meeting on the afternoon of November 29, 2020, in the spirit of special trust, the two Foreign Ministers shared the results of the Party Congress of each country, reviewing the results of cooperation between the two countries and two Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the past year and discussed the direction of cooperation in the coming time; at the same time, to have a deep and reliable exchange on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The two sides agreed to evaluate that despite facing many difficulties due to the Covid-19 epidemic, in recent years, the Vietnam-Laos cooperation relationship has continued to develop well. Political cooperation has been strengthened and deepened. The two sides have maintained regular visits, telephone calls and high-level meetings. Bilateral cooperation mechanisms are interested in implementing. Cooperation in defense - security and foreign affairs continues to be promoted. Economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technical cooperation has made positive changes.
The two Ministers agreed to direct the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs to continue to coordinate well in serving high-level visits and meetings; contributing to the preparation for the 43rd Session of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee under the chairmanship of the Prime Ministers of the two countries; support and coordinate with the concerned ministries and branches of the two countries to well implement the agreements, programs and projects on Vietnam-Laos cooperation, especially key cooperation projects.
The two Ministers also welcomed leaders of key departments and departments of the two ministries and officials from the two delegations on the Vietnam-Laos border for many exchanges and consultations on this occasion. On the basis of the cooperation agreement between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs for the period 2014-2020, the two Ministers assessed that the cooperation between the two ministries is increasingly being strengthened in a practical and effective direction through regular cooperation mechanisms. Annual Ministerial level, Deputy Minister and many mechanisms and forms of exchange in areas such as consular consulting, border work, industry construction work, staff training cooperation ... Especially, two The party successfully coordinated the online Political Consultation at Deputy Foreign Minister level in October 2020 and signed the Action Program on Economic Diplomatic Cooperation for the period 2020-2025.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh thanked Laos for their coordination and support for Viet Nam's candidacy to UN agencies and organizations in recent years, as well as for their cooperation and active support. Vietnam successfully assumed the role of Chair of ASEAN 2020; affirmed that Vietnam will actively coordinate and support Laos to successfully organize the 9th Ayeyawady - Chao Ph raya - Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy Summit (ACMECS), the 9th Cambodia - Laos - Myanmar Summit - Vietnam (CLMV) 10th and the 11th Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam Development Triangle Summit (CLV).
The two Ministers also shared their views and deeply evaluated the world, regional and ASEAN situation, competition between major countries, and relations between the two countries with important partners; as well as the South China Sea issue and sustainable use of water resources in the Mekong River. The two sides agreed to continue to work closely at regional and international forums; proactively and actively sharing information, exchanging views and coordinating consultation stances at all channels and levels; coordinate in finding and taking advantage of international resources for cooperation projects and programs between Vietnam and Laos.
