Vietnam And Laos Strengthen Cooperation in Supporting Overseas Nationals

According to a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Vientiane, on September 7, as part of a working visit on community work in Laos, Deputy Foreign Minister, Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, Mr. Tinh Souksan, on cooperation issues between the two countries, focusing on sharing information and experience in supporting overseas residents in the country.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation mechanisms and effectively implement high-level agreements between the two countries, particularly in the fields of education and training, tourism, culture, and exchanges between people and between localities, thereby contributing to the strengthening of Vietnam and Laos' great relationship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation.

According to Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang, the Vietnamese community abroad is increasingly asserting its position in the host society and gaining status, with a population of approximately 6 million people living in more than 130 countries and territories. solid legality, positively contributing to the development of not only the economy-society, science-technology, and culture... However, it also serves as a link between Vietnam and other countries. The Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, in particular, has been recognized as an ethnic minority by the local government. This is a historical milestone for the Vietnamese community here, demonstrating the local appreciation and recognition of the community's efforts to rise and integrate over many decades, bringing people more benefits and help build stronger communities.

Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam always care about and consider the Vietnamese community abroad as an inseparable part of the great national unity bloc, a resource for national development, and that policy is concretized with policies and laws appropriate to the country's situation and conditions, as well as the community's characteristics.

According to Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang, with more than 100,000 people working in Laos, the Vietnamese community in Laos is one of the large, growing, developing a patriotic tradition, sticking to Vietnam's homeland, working together to preserve the identity of Laos' national culture, law enforcement, etc. It is the link between the people of the two countries, contributing to deepen the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang thanked the Party, Government and the Lao people for supporting and facilitating the Vietnamese community in Laos to stabilize their lives, study, do business, actively contribute to economic development, build a prosperous Lao country, prosperity; ask Laos to continue to create conditions for communities to settle down, work, study in Laos, support the maintenance and preservation of national cultural identity and teach and learn Vietnamese in training facilities of Laos, where many Vietnamese live.

On overseas Vietnamese work, the two sides agreed to promote a cooperative agreement between the State Commission on Overseas Vietnamese and the Lao People's Commission on Foreign Relations, resume the exchange of delegations after the COVID-19 pandemic, and learn from each other about policy development, support, mobilization, and attracting people to their hometowns. The country, protecting its cultural identity and national language... Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang has invited the delegation of Lao People's Communications Committees abroad to visit and work in Vietnam for the time being.

As part of the visit, in the afternoon of the same day, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang had a working session with the Vietnamese community in Laos. Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Minister highly appreciated the activities of associations in promoting the role of representatives of Vietnamese communities in Laos, rejoicing to see that the community, under any circumstances, has always maintained, fostered the tradition of solidarity, mutual support, and suffering to build a new life in Laos. contribute to cultivating a friendly relationship between the Vietnamese and Lao brothers; affirm that our Party and the State have always paid special attention and affection to ethnic Koreans in Laos, wishing that ethnic Koreans live stably, improving their capacity and qualifications in the community, especially young people, thereby being able to further integrate into the existing society.
