Vice Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang visits Vietnamese communities in Laos

Vietnamese in Laos have a revolutionary tradition and have many contributions to the cause of national liberation struggle.

Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the State Committee for Vietnamese Overseas, visited the Vietnamese community in Laos and attended the ceremony on September 6 and 7, 2023. Opening ceremony and ceremony to honor Vietnamese language at Nguyen Du Lao-Vietnamese bilingual school, meeting with Vietnamese associations and communities, visiting Vietnamese classes, a number of Vietnamese pagodas, and overseas Vietnamese businesses in Vientiane.

At the opening ceremony and Vietnamese honorifics at the Lao-Vietnamese bilingual school Nguyen Du participated by Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Sisouk Vongvichit, Vice Minister Le Thi Thu Hang congratulated the school on its 15th anniversary (2008-2023) with proud achievements. become a prestigious school in the capital city of Vientiane and contribute to providing human resources for a prosperous and happy Laos construction career. The establishment of the Nguyen Du Laos-Vietnamese bilingual school is one of the symbols of the special friendship relationship between Vietnam and Laos, and it is a model that few places around the world have in the Vietnamese community.

The Deputy Minister praised the efforts of the Vietnamese community in Laos and the teachers of the Nguyen Du Lao-Vietnamese bilingual school in recent years in spreading the flame of preserving Vietnamese culture and language, including activities. In response to the annual Vietnamese language honoring day (September 8), the Vietnamese community in Laos has the highest number of entries to find a Vietnamese messenger in the year, with 1 candidate winning an excellent award every 5 years. Vietnamese communities can be found all over the world. The two countries' Ministries of Education are currently planning to pilot a bilingual teaching model at Lao-Vietnamese bilingual schools for replication in Laos.

Speaking to community representatives on September 7, the Deputy Minister expressed his appreciation for the activities of associations in promoting the role of representing the Vietnamese community in Laos, and expressed his pleasure to witness the community in any situation. Regardless of the circumstances, we will always preserve and promote the tradition of solidarity, attachment, mutual support, suffering, and hardship in order to build a new life in Laos, thereby contributing to the cultivation of a loving friendship. Affirming that our Party and State will always pay special attention and affection to overseas Vietnamese in Laos, with the hope that they will live steadily, improve their capacity and qualifications in the community, particularly young people, and thus integrate into the host society. Previously, on the afternoon of September 6, the Deputy Minister was delighted to see with his own eyes the spacious classrooms, the enthusiasm of the teachers, and the enthusiasm and diligence with which students at Vientiane studied. Vietnamese and Lao people of various ages hope that Vietnamese language teaching and learning will be maintained and recovered following the interruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

With Vietnamese pagodas in Laos, the Deputy Minister recognizes and respects the virtues of monks and Buddhists of Vietnamese temples, while taking care of the spiritual lives of relatives, organizing and guiding people to participate in Vietnamese language teaching, learning, intellectual enhancement, helping their fellow Vietnamese people to spread the good values.

On this occasion, the Committee of Overseas Vietnamese has collaborated with the Army Dance Theater to perform for relatives in Thailand and Laos with performances praising Uncle Ho's love, praising his homeland, country, and Vietnam-Thai friendship and Vietnam-Lao friendship.

The Vietnamese community in Laos is approximately 100,000 people, living in the capital Vientiane and major residential areas in Central and South Laos; enforcing the law and actively contributing to economic development, building Laos, and promoting friendly relations between the two countries. Vietnamese in Laos have revolutionary traditions, contributed greatly to the cause of national liberation, national unity and construction, actively engaged in activities towards roots, preserving national cultural identity and language.
