Strengthening Trust and Attachment: The National Assembly of Vietnam-Laos
Vietnam is prepared to assist the Lao National Assembly in organizing the first Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam National Assembly Summit in Vientiane in 2023, as it has long supported and is eager to host such a significant event.
While on a working visit to Vietnam on February 28, 2023, Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Khambay Damlath presided over a delegation from his country, and Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh, the National Assembly's vice chairman, hosted a reception and working session with them throughout the morning.
When welcoming the delegation, Comrade Nguyen Khac Dinh expressed his joy and affirmed that the National Assembly Committees of the two countries regularly organize high-level delegation exchanges, information exchange conferences, experience sharing, and thematic direct exchange seminars. These activities have helped put the results of comprehensive cooperation into practice, make them more practical, and strengthen the attachment and trust between the two governments.
In response to the cordial treatment they received from Vietnamese lawmakers and political figures, V.C. Khambay Damlath, Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly, expressed his sincere gratitude. Comrade Khambay Damlath stated that the goal of this delegation is to put into practice the conclusions reached during Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Vuong Dinh Hue's working visit to Laos in May 2022. In addition, the visit is a practical way for the two national assemblies to put the Cooperation Agreement into action, which will help strengthen the bonds of friendship and solidarity between the two countries' citizens and leaders and lay the groundwork for a more robust system of cooperation.
In a recent statement, Comrade Khambay Damlath congratulated the Vietnamese people and the Party on their tremendous successes in nation-building and defense. Maintaining political and security stability, reviving and developing the economy, stabilizing social life following the COVID-19 pandemic, and elevating Vietnam's position and significance in the region and the world have all been made possible through the effective execution of the Resolutions of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
According to the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Nguyen Khac Dinh, who was speaking with him, the job of combining apparatus and arranging operations was still facing numerous issues since the province's People's Council of Laos had just been re-established. not easy. We have learned a great deal about how to run the People's Council apparatus through our collaboration with the Delegates Working Committee of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Vietnam and other Vietnamese localities. We have taken this knowledge and applied it selectively and creatively in Laos.
Comrade Khambay Damlath went on to say that the Lao National Assembly would be studying, amending, and supplementing many laws concerning the structure and operations of the National Assembly and People's Council in 2023. This study will be done in an innovative spirit, with an emphasis on efficiency and quality. Positions that the National Assembly elects or authorizes will simultaneously go through the process of receiving votes of confidence in order to ensure impartiality and justice.
Following Vietnam's National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue's May 2022 visit to Laos, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly reaffirmed the growing strength of the relationship between the two countries' National Assemblies through high-level delegation exchange activities, conferences, seminars, discussions, cooperation, and unification on regional and global forums.
Khambay Damlath, Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly, is looking forward to receiving the Vietnamese National Assembly's active support and sharing of experiences so that Laos can host the first-ever Summit of the three National Assembly of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam in Vientiane, the capital of Vietnam, in 2023.
In response to comrade Khambay Damlath's views, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh conveyed his agreement and gratitude, particularly about the future course of cooperation between the two nations and the two National Assemblyes. Comrade Nguyen Khac Dinh stressed the need of improving ties between Vietnam and Laos, two neighboring countries that are crucial to the political and security situations of both nations and to regional stability in light of recent complex regional developments and rising international tensions.
As long as Laos needs help safeguarding, constructing, or growing its nation, Vietnam will be there to provide a helping hand. The two nations have a strong bond and are committed to working together in perfect harmony.
The meeting's moderators, Nguyen Khac Dinh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and Khambay Damlath, Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly, reached a strong consensus to keep promoting cooperation and making it more efficient in all areas after openly discussing issues of mutual concern.
Each side is dedicated to seeing through the successful and simultaneous implementation of the following: the Vietnam-Laos Summit Agreement in 2023; the cooperation agreement between the two parliaments; and the CLV (Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam) National Assembly summit mechanism.
Vietnam is always prepared to assist the Lao National Assembly in organizing the aforementioned significant event, as highlighted by Nguyen Khac Dinh, a member of the National Assembly and Vice Chairman, on the eve of the first Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam National Assembly Summit in Vientiane in 2023.
At the meeting's conclusion, the two nations' vice presidents of the national assembly reached an agreement: the two states and their people will continue to grow and prosper thanks to the comprehensive cooperative relationship between the two parties, the solidarity, unwavering friendship, and the trust and closeness between the two national assemblies./.
