On October 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone at the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit in Saudi Arabia.

The two Prime Ministers reviewed and evaluated the implementation of agreements between the Politburos of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party in order to promote stronger and more substantive cooperation.

As a result, review the achieved and unachieved results, issues that need to be promoted, or issues that can be learned from experience, in order to discuss cooperation mechanisms and implementation. The two countries agreed to work together to implement the Vietnam-Laos Strategic Cooperation Agreement for the period 2021- 2030, the Vietnam-Laos Bilateral Cooperation Agreement for the period 2021-2023, and other high-level agreements and cooperation plans signed on the ground.

The two sides also agreed to increase their efforts to bring economic cooperation to a higher level of quality; to help each other build an independent, self-sufficient economy that is linked to substantive, extensive, and effective international integration.
