Promoting Cooperation in State Management of Religion Between Vietnam - Laos
In the morning of June 6, 2023, comrade Vu Chien Thang, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, had a talk with comrade Chanpheng Sutthivong, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Laos Fatherland Front for National Construction within the framework of the visit of Laos delegation in Vietnam from June 5-9, 2023.
During the talks, the leaders of the two countries affirmed the long-standing traditional solidarity between the two nations that has been continuously preserved and developed by successive generations. The general socio-economic situation, especially the religious situation of the two countries, was informed by both sides during the meeting. Delegates of the two countries also discussed the results achieved in implementing the Cooperation Agreement and directions for cooperation in the next period.
The cooperation agreement between the two parties in recent times has achieved some remarkable results. The two sides have successfully organized delegation exchange activities at all levels, shared information and experiences on religious management, and cooperated to improve professional capacity for officials who in charge of religion, creating conditions for Buddhists of the two countries to have opportunities to interact and exchange experiences.
The results of cooperation between the Government Committee for Religious Affairs of Vietnam and the Central Committee of the Fatherland Front for National Construction of Laos have contributed positively to the development of religious work of the two countries, tightening relations between the two countries. bond between the Buddhist Churches of the two countries as well as further deepening the solidarity, traditional fidelity and comprehensive cooperative relationship between the two Parties, the two Governments and the two Nations.
Comrade Vu Chien Thang shared that in the context of many difficulties and disadvantages in the country, the regional and world political situation is constantly escalating tension, Vietnam has drastically directed all levels of government to coordinate, face and gradually remove difficulties, promote economic development, maintain social order and safety, and ensure security and national defense are maintained. The people absolutely believe in the leadership of the Party and State, and are in the face of hostile and sabotaging forces.
The religious situation in Laos has been stable in recent times, there is no religious division, religious organizations and believers basically comply with the regulations and legal policies of the Party and State. Religious organizations live together peacefully, actively contribute to social activities, and preserve the fine traditional cultural identity of Laos.
In the coming period, to promote the implementation of cooperation agreements in the field of religion, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam and the Central Committee of the Laos Fatherland Front for National Construction will increase the organization of activities like exchange delegations, cooperate in organizing training courses, foster professional capacity for officials working in religious management, encourage and support Buddhist activities of the Buddhist Sangha of two countries.
