Promoting Cooperation between Vietnam and Laos' Central Foreign Relations Committees
In a meeting on February 22, Comrade Thongsavanh Phomvihane spoke with the delegation on behalf of General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, Speaker of the National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Saleumxay Kommasith.
"The two Foreign Affairs Committees need to strengthen cooperation, exchange experiences, and help each other successfully implement the Congress Resolution of each Party and the agreement between senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries."
According to the mutual understanding between the two CFA committees, Comrade Thongsavanh Phomvihane, a member of the CFA and the head of the CFA committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, invited Comrade Le Hoai Trung, a member of the CPC and the head of the CCF of the Vietnamese Communist Party, to visit and work in Laos.
Along with General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Saleumxay Kommasith, the Vietnamese delegation was honored during a solemn welcoming ceremony in Laos on February 22, 2023. A meeting with comrade Thongsavanh Phomvihane was held by the delegation immediately after the welcome ceremony.
Laotian top authorities welcomed the Vietnamese delegation with open arms and conveyed their greetings and best wishes to Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong and other Vietnamese party officials during the reception and subsequent discussions. The importance of our delegation's visit is also much recognized, as it is an action to further foster the unique relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
During the era of innovation and national building, Vietnam accomplished tremendous things, and senior Laotian officials were happy about it. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and expanding the strong bond between the Vietnamese and Laotian peoples. Additionally, members of both countries' Foreign Affairs Committees were instructed by their comrades to maintain a high level of cooperation, improve communication, share knowledge, grow as a team, and aid in the effective execution of the Resolutions put forth by the Congresses of both parties as well as agreements reached between party leaders and two states.
As he stood before the welcoming Laotian people, comrade Le Hoai Trung complimented the Lao People's Revolutionary Party on their successes in putting the 11th Congress's resolution into action. His statement reaffirmed the Vietnamese government's position that strengthening ties with Laos is an important goal of Vietnamese foreign policy.
A powerful motivating factor in the economic and social growth of both nations, he was overjoyed to hear that the friendship and collaboration between the two peoples is becoming stronger, being put into practice, and producing positive outcomes in several domains.
In addition, Comrade Le Hoai Trung politely sent congratulations and well wishes from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other top Vietnamese officials to Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, who is also the head of state and general secretary of Laos.
At the meeting, the two leaders of the two parties' central foreign affairs committees exchanged updates on the state of affairs in their respective countries and parties, as well as significant events and the global scene as a whole. Additionally, the comrades stressed the need of fostering cooperative connections between the two Foreign Affairs Committees in order to effectively accomplish the duties set by the two Parties and nations.
As strategic advisers, supervisors, and urgers, the two nations' Foreign Affairs Committees should actively communicate information, serve as a bridge to promote friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and countries, and encourage their members to do the same. Finalizing high-level agreements between the two sides, with a focus on successfully managing the expansion of collaboration between the two parties' departments.
