Promoting agricultural production in Indochina countries

A conference sharing experiences on agricultural development had been organized by the Vietnam Farmers' Union Central in coordination with People's Committee of Lam Dong province on December 2, in Da Lat, Lam Dong.

In his opening remark, President of Vietnam Farmers Association Thao Xuan Sung said: Over the past years, the cooperation relationship between Vietnam,  Cambodia and Laos has been constantly strengthened in the fields of politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, investment, education and training, etc.

Two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Laos in 2018 reached more than US $ 1 billion, in the first eight months of 2019 reached US $ 748 million, up 14.2% over the same period in 2018. Vietnam's exports to Laos reached US $ 405 million, 18.8% higher, imports from Laos reached nearly 260 million USD, up 5.2% over the same period in 2018.

Vietnam - Cambodia bilateral trade in 2018 reached US $ 4.704 billion, up 23.8% compared to 2017 and in the first 10 months of 2019 trade turnover reached US $ 4.4 billion, up 13.8% over the same period.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Meas Pyseth, Deputy Secretary of the State, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia expected to share learn from experiences of Vietnam and Lao partners.

Concluding the conference - Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly - Phung Quoc Hien emphasized: The Joint Statement of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia affirmed to enhance the effectiveness of comprehensive cooperation. Promoting the cooperative friendship on agricultural production between the three countries' farmers plays a very important role in the socio-economic development of each country and improve the position of the three countries in the region and the world.
