Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính Calls for Enhanced Connectivity and Support for Vietnamese-Laotian Business Teams.
Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has requested that the embassy and relevant agencies strengthen connectivity and support the business community and entrepreneurs of Vietnam and Laos in cooperation and investment.
On the occasion of attending the ASEAN Summit and related meetings, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính met and worked with officials from the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of Vietnam in Laos on the evening of October 8.
Reporting to the Prime Minister, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Laos Nguyễn Minh Tâm stated that Vietnam currently ranks among the top three countries with significant investments in Laos, with a total registered capital exceeding 5 billion USD. The bilateral trade turnover in the first months of 2024 has surpassed 1 billion USD, aiming for a target of over 2 billion USD each year.

Recently, the embassy has consistently supported the Vietnamese community, helping overseas Vietnamese feel secure in their business and lives, contributing to the socio-economic development of Laos and enhancing the Vietnam-Laos relationship. Notably, the embassy and the Vietnamese community are keenly interested in honoring and promoting the preservation and learning of the Vietnamese language through various activities.
Mrs. Kiều Thị Hồng Phúc, the Consul General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang, reported that the two provinces of Điện Biên and Lai Châu are implementing a pilot cooperation project to grow 8 hectares of macadamia trees, which, if effective, will be expanded in the future. She suggested that ministries and sectors pay attention to support and cooperate with Laos on this matter and mentioned plans to expand pilot cultivation of some crops suitable for Northern Laos, such as Bát Độ bamboo and cinnamon.

Emphasizing the special nature of Vietnam-Laos relations, the Prime Minister urged Vietnamese representative agencies and officials to embody a spirit of sincerity, trust, and openness in this relationship.
According to the Prime Minister, in the Vietnam-Laos relationship, political ties are fundamental, while robust economic cooperation, education collaboration, and workforce training, among other areas, must also be promoted to strengthen and enhance the development of Vietnam-Laos relations in all fields, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries.
In particular, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to enhance business connectivity and support the development of entrepreneurs; call for and facilitate cooperation and investment between businesses of the two countries; and effectively implement existing projects, completing those that are underway. For upcoming projects, government leaders require a focus on key areas, avoiding dispersion.
In this spirit, the Prime Minister tasked agencies with coordinating to develop specific proposals and projects for the authorities to review and decide upon. The Prime Minister underscored the viewpoint of "what has been said must be done, and what has been committed must be fulfilled," emphasizing that ongoing projects with Laos must yield effective results.
