On October 11, during his attendance at the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and related meetings in the capital city of Vientiane, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính had a meeting with the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Vice President Bounthong Chitmany.
The Prime Minister congratulated Laos on successfully assuming the role of ASEAN Chair in 2024; commending the careful and safe organization of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related meetings, and noted that Laos has effectively managed the meetings, enhancing its international stature.
He emphasized that the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos are unique in the world. He proposed that both sides continue to nurture and educate future generations to promote the valuable sentiments of both parties and peoples, considering this a priceless asset of the two nations that have stood together and shared joys and sorrows throughout the struggle for independence and national development. He urged cooperation and support to build an independent and self-reliant economy while engaging deeply and effectively in international integration.
Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính reported that Vietnam is actively implementing the outcomes of the meeting between the two Politburos in September 2024 and believes that both sides need to enhance the exchange of experiences between the two parties, including in human resource training, especially as both countries prepare for their respective Party Congresses leading to the National Party Congress.
The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Vice President Bounthong Chitmany, expressed profound gratitude for the substantial, sincere, timely, and effective support that Vietnam has provided to Laos in the past during its liberation struggle and in the current efforts to build and develop the country, including support for Laos in fulfilling its role as ASEAN Chair in 2024.
Bounthong Chitmany emphasized the long-standing tradition, forged through difficulties and challenges, the vital significance, and the importance of the special relationship between Laos and Vietnam, which is a shared priceless asset of the two nations and a rule for the existence and development of each country. The special nature and significance of the relationship between the two parties and countries need to be ingrained in officials, party members, and the people, and passed on to future generations in both countries.
Appreciating the outcomes of the recent meeting between the two Politburos in Hanoi, both sides exchanged orientations for cooperation in the time to come. The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party expressed admiration for Vietnam's strong socio-economic development and foreign relations, which have contributed to elevating its position in the international arena.
The Permanent Secretary of the Central Committee, Vice President of Laos Bounthong Chitmany, spoke at the meeting.
Both leaders expressed their pleasure at the fruitful cooperation results across all fields between the two parties and states in the past, especially in politics, trade, security-defense, party-building, and personnel training.
In the context of the complex developments in the world and regional situation, both sides agreed to effectively implement high-level agreements, enhance exchanges, and share experiences in shaping policies and executing the nation-building and development process, focusing on key cooperative projects; thus, deepening and making the bilateral cooperation relationship more practical and effective.
