President Vo Van Thuong met with General Secretary and President of the State of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith on the morning of October 19, in Beijing, China, in honor of attending the 3rd Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit.

Thongloun Sisoulith, the President of Laos and General Secretary, welcomed President Vo Van Thuong with warm regards, as did General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and the President of the National Assembly. The two leaders stressed that numerous important cooperation projects have advanced positively in recent times, as both countries' ministries, branches, and localities have actively coordinated and implemented high-level agreements while working to remove challenges and barriers.

The two parties decided to keep advancing their close political ties while also working together to preserve the environment in the face of a complex and shifting global environment that presents both opportunities and challenges. Maintaining peace and stability is essential for development. Treaties, agreements, and plans for cooperation between the two Parties and their respective countries should also be implemented successfully. Close coordination, thorough planning, and efficient deployment of bilateral cooperation mechanisms are key components of high-level activities. Defense and security cooperation should be strengthened, as it is one of the key pillars of the two countries' relationship.
