It has been officially announced that President Vo Van Thuong would be visiting Laos from April 10th to 11th, 2023, at the invitation of President Thongloun Sisoulith, who is also the General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party's Central Committee.
In the long and winding road to national freedom and peace, and in the present day, the two countries of Vietnam and Laos have remained inseparable, like brothers and neighbors who have weathered the storms of war side by side. Both nations' peoples and their governments have worked tirelessly to foster a unique bond of friendship and unity, and it has paid off handsomely.
For the unique reason stated earlier, President Vo Van Thuong made a point of visiting Laos on his first official visit to the nation. Our party and state will always uphold and value the significance of the special friendship, the bond of solidarity, and the comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.
When visiting Laos, the Vietnamese president reaffirmed Vietnam's unwavering support for the country as it works toward economic and social development, deepening its integration into the global community, and overall recovery from the current political and economic crisis. The president made the statement in light of the fact that the region and world are facing numerous unpredictable developments and constantly rising tensions, which pose many great challenges.
The formal state welcome ceremony, a direct meeting between the General Secretary and the President of Laos, and the signing ceremony of cooperation papers are all on President Vo Van Thuong's agenda while in Laos.
After then, a meeting was held between the Lao National Assembly Chairman, the President, and the Prime Minister. Participated in the official reception of the General Secretary and President of Laos, visited and worked at the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, met with numerous representatives of the Vietnamese community in Laos, and had meetings with the Chairman of the Central Lao Front for National Construction and the Central Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association, among other things.
An important component in promoting the good implementation of high-level agreements between the two parties and the two governments, such as the Vietnam-Laos Strategic Cooperation Agreement for the period 2021–2030 and the Vietnam–Laos Agreement on Bilateral Cooperation for the period 2021–2025, the significant activities that take place during this visit help to create new momentum for the two nations' cooperation in all domains.
In addition, comrade Vo Van Thuong will visit the monuments of President Kaysone Phomvihane and the Monument of Unknown Martyrs to lay a wreath and give incense. He will also visit the shrines of Laos's past top leaders. This event is a tribute to the many generations of Vietnamese and Laotians who have worked tirelessly to maintain and strengthen the unique friendship between the two countries.
Vietnam and Laos have a unique bond and a comprehensive cooperative partnership that is "forever green, forever and ever." The visit of President Vo Van Thuong to the Lao People's Democratic Republic is a significant event that will help to strengthen this bond.
