NDO – The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) hosted a training meeting in Hanoi on July 9, aiming to help businesses to understand the commitments of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). |
The two-day event, which was held as part of the ministry’s plan on the implementation of the agreement in 2020, attracted the participation of managers, policy makers and hundreds of representatives of businesses operating in the capital city. It provided a venue for businesses to raise their voices and share their existing difficulties and obstacles on the threshold of the economic integration brought about by the CPTPP. The businesses’ opinions at the event will positively contribute to the building of practical and effective policies that can fully reap the benefits of the CPTPP and mitigate the impacts of possible challenges while boosting export activities and fostering the country’s economic development. Deputy Director of the MoIT's Multilateral Trade Policy Department Ngo Chung Khanh stated that the CPTPP has opened up vast export opportunities for Vietnam, adding that the implementation of the deal has gained positive outcomes since it took effect in the country in January 2019. Accordingly, trade between Vietnam and CPTPP members reached US$77.4 billion in 2019, a year-on-year rise of 3.9%. Vietnam also recorded a trade surplus of US$1.6 billion with CPTPP members last year. Source: ND News |
