Laos delegations pay tribute to Vietnamese President in Champasak

Hanoi – As many as 26 delegations came to the Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse district in the Laos province of Champasak on September 26 to pay tribute to and write in the funeral book over the passing of President Tran Dai Quang.
They included delegations from Champasak province led by Secretary of the province Party Committee and Governor Bounthong Divisay; Sekong province led by Secretary of the province Party Committee and Governor Khamphoi Butdavieng, and Salavan province headed by Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Governor Sisuvan Vongchomsi.
A delegation from the Cambodian Consulate General in Pakse led by Consul General Hoy Sopheap and a delegation from the Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse led by Bui The Dung also attended the ceremony.
Other delegations were from departments and agencies of Champasak, the Vietnamese associations of four southern Laos provinces, and Vietnamese firms investing in the south of Laos.
The same day, leaders and former leaders of Laos expressed their deep sympathies over the death of the President while writing in the funeral book opened by the Vietnamese Embassy in Vientiane.
President Quang passed away at 10:05am on September 21 in Hanoi at the age of 62.
The two-day state funeral for the President began at 7am on September 26 at the National Funeral Hall, at 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.
The memorial service will be held at 7:30am on September 27 at the National Funeral Hall. The burial ceremony will take place at 3:30pm on the same day in the President’s hometown in Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province.
Respect-paying and memorial ceremonies for President Tran Dai Quang are also being held at the Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City and in village 13, Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province.
