Kon Tum, Laos provinces work to enhance shared border
The Central Highlands province of Kon Tum and Laos’ Attapeu and Sekong provinces have reached a consensus on maintaining efforts to build a Vienam-Laos borderline of peace, friendship and cooperation.
The agreement was reached during a conference between the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) – Kon Tum chapter and the Attapeu and Sekong chapters of the Laos Front for National Construction on November 16 in the Vietnamese locality.
Speaking at the event, Vice President of the VFF Central Committee Truong Thi Ngoc Anh asked the three provinces’ front organisations to continue coordinating closely to boost all-round cooperation following their signed agreements, and implement the joint statement issued at the international conference on building the Vietnam-Laos borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and development during 2017-2020.
Participants at the event agreed to regularly exchange information and experience in front work, continue popularising the bilateral special friendship and solidarity among local people, particularly those in border districts, and encourage locals to get involved in maintaining security and order in border areas.
The VFF – Kon Tum chapter pledged to coordinate with relevant agencies and businesses in organising market-days in border areas to introduce its products to Laos people.
Kon Tum province has a borderline of 142km with Laos’ Attapeu and Sekong provinces.
