Horasis Asia Meeting 2018 opens

BÌNH DƯƠNG — More than 400 senior executives and CEOs from over 60 countries, as well as 400 Government leaders and top executives from Việt Nam’s largest businesses, are attending the Horasis Asia Meeting 2018 that opened this morning in Bình Dương Province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Trịnh Đình Dũng said since its implementation of reforms in 1986, Việt Nam has had impressive GDP growth, approaching 7 per cent this year. 

“Việt Nam is considered by the international community as a model of a successful transition economy,” he said. 

Việt Nam’s average economic growth reached 6.63 per cent per year in the 1986-2017 period, Dũng said, adding that it is expected to rise to 6.81 per cent this year, one of the highest economic growth rates in the world.

Nearly 26,000 FDI enterprises from more than 130 countries and territories are operating in Việt Nam, with committed capital of over US$330 billion.

With deep international integration, Việt Nam has become a reliable partner, with trade relations with more than 200 countries and territories around the world, Dũng said.

Việt Nam will continue to stabilise the macroeconomy, and ensure national financial security and monetary security, he added.

In addition, it will continue to improve the business investment environment, remove barriers for businesses, strive to put Việt Nam into the leading group of ASEAN, and reach the standards of OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) member countries in terms of competitiveness, he noted. 

The meeting includes four plenary sessions and 36 dialogue sessions.

One of the sessions will focus on Bình Dương Province’s investment opportunities in hi-tech industries, supporting industries, information technology, construction, human resource development and vocational training, among other fields.

In addition, the meeting will discuss Artificial Intelligence (AI), the ongoing development of the education sector, and business innovation.  

The event is hosted by Bình Dương People’s Committee in collaboration with the Horasis Global Visions Community, Becamex IDC Corporation, VSIP Group, All India Management Association and the Young Premier Leadership Organisation.
