Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang Extends Greetings to Lao Minister of Home Affairs Thongchanh Manixay

Hanoi, 23 May 2023 - Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang met with Lao Minister of Home Affairs Thongchanh Manixay, who is visiting Vietnam on an official mission to enhance cooperation and bilateral relations between the two neighboring nations, in a friendly and cordial setting at the Government Office.

In a message of congratulations, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang acknowledged the substantial contributions of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and its members to the advancement and development of the country. He emphasized that the arrival of the Lao Ministry of Home Affairs delegation would further strengthen the already strong friendship and extensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Deputy Prime Minister Quang praised the results of the two ministries' productive cooperation, mentioning administrative reform, religious and belief management, professional training for officials, and the creation of commendation regulations as some of the areas where they have worked together. He looked ahead with hope, saying that the two ministries should keep improving their cooperative relationship so that it produces real and meaningful results. He emphasized the value of specialized fields like law research and drafting, state management, local government administration, and the training and development of future cadres, as well as the significance of close coordination in carrying out high-level agreements.

The Laotian government has been working to build a more competent labor force, and Minister Thongchanh Manixay expressed his appreciation to the Vietnamese Ministry of Home Affairs for their consistent backing, especially in the form of professional expertise and the warm welcome extended to Laotian students and trainees by the Vietnamese government.

The future, according to Minister Manixay's expectations, will see the two ministries maintaining their current level of collaboration while also increasing high-level exchanges, sharing knowledge and experiences, and implementing efficient procedures in their respective fields of expertise. He also asked Vietnam to help educate Lao officials, especially in digital transformation, so that the government could work more efficiently.

The conference highlights the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Laos, demonstrating a common desire for both countries to advance economically and cooperate together. It lays the groundwork for future collaborations and initiatives that will be good for both countries and help stabilize and grow the region.
