Hanoi – Minister of Defence Ngo Xuan Lich will lead the Vietnamese delegation to take part in the 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM) and 5th ADMM-Plus in Singapore from October 18 to 20.
The attendance is made at the invitation of Singaporean Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen.
The minister’s participation at the ASEAN events reflects Vietnam’s responsible and active engagement in cooperation within the framework of the ADMM and ADMM-Plus.
ADMM is the highest defence cooperation and consultation mechanism of ASEAN, aiming to foster mutual trust among member countries through sharing perspectives on defence and security challenges, while improving the transparency and openness among the ten ASEAN countries.
Meanwhile, the ADMM Plus provides a platform for ASEAN defence chiefs to hold dialogue with partners in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) comprises Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Viet Nam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia.
