The Vietnam-Laos Trade Fair (VietLao Expo) 2023 commenced on July 27 at the Laos International Exhibition and Convention Center (Lao-Itecc) in the capital city of Vientiane. This event, featuring approximately 250 booths showcasing goods from Vietnamese and Lao enterprises, is the largest trade promotion event between the two countries. It is co-chaired by the Ministries of Industry and Trade from both Vietnam and Laos and organized annually by the Trade Promotion Departments in collaboration with relevant agencies.

Vietnamese enterprises have been actively contributing to the socio-economic development of Laos. Through their investment projects, these enterprises have created employment opportunities, increased income for workers, and generated revenue for the Lao state budget.

The Former Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos Somsavat Lengsavad, who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos from 1993-2006 affirmed in an interview that Former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan had many contributions for solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
