Over the past decades, AIPA parliamentary cooperation has always played an important role to coordinate with the governments of ASEAN member countries to consolidate and maintain an environment of peace, security and stability; cooperation and development; strengthen the ties between the people of the countries in the region

The 41st Inter-Parliamentary Meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (AIPA) was held on the morning of September 8 online for 3 days from September 8-10, 2020 at 43 bridge points with 380 delegates attended.

As the Chair of ASEAN 2020, attending and speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that AIPA is an essential organization of the legislative bodies in ASEAN and highly appreciated and thanked the government. , parliaments and people of ASEAN countries have stood shoulder to shoulder to coordinate effectively for the common goals of ASEAN.

The Prime Minister said that this is the third time the National Assembly of Vietnam has assumed the Chairmanship of AIPA and the third time to host the AIPA General Assembly and is the first time in history that the AIPA General Assembly has been held by online form. Despite the difficulties, Vietnam always strives to successfully complete the 2020 ASEAN Presidents and believes that with the cooperation of the member governments and parliaments, ASEAN will confidently continue to move forward on the path of city building. The community is united, resilient, cohesive and proactive in adapting for peace, prosperity and 


Raising some important contents of cooperation between AIPA and the National Assembly and Governments of ASEAN countries, the Prime Minister emphasized that the ASEAN executive channel and legislative channel should continue to work closely to promote the successful implementation of the Plan. overall, on the 3 pillars of politics - security, economy and culture - society, to realize the ASEAN Community Vision 2025; to attach importance to promoting economic linkages, strengthening connectivity, narrowing development gaps, and integrating and harmonizing ASEAN decisions with national development programs.

The Prime Minister wanted the AIPA members and parliamentarians to gather the will and aspirations of the people, make recommendations and co-operate together with the governments of ASEAN countries in the decisions on ASEAN's development direction, formulate The ASEAN Community Vision after 2025 is people-centered.


The AIPA member parliaments join hands with the governments of ASEAN countries to build an ASEAN Community that operates on the basis of rules, rule of law, equality, mutual respect, dispute settlement and differences in peaceful ways on the basis of respect for international law. Expanding relations with partners, in which ASEAN always maintains the central role of the region.
