Annual Talks Between Quang Nam Province And Sekong Province

2nd August 2023 post by MOIT Vietnam

On August 1, a meeting was held between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Nam province and the Lao Front Committee for National Construction of Se Kong province in Tam Ky city. The purpose of the talks was to strengthen the solidarity and friendship between the two provinces.

During the meeting, both sides reported on the progress made in implementing the Memorandum of Cooperation Agreement. This included efforts to raise awareness among the residents of both localities about the special tradition of solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos. The goal was to foster unity among border communities, promote economic development, and address social issues.

Building on the achievements of the two provinces, Vo Xuan Ca, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Nam province, emphasized the need for specific activities to further enhance the traditional solidarity and mutual support for socioeconomic development.

The two sides agreed to continue promoting the tradition of solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, as well as between Quang Nam and Sekong provinces. The Vietnam Fatherland Front in Quang Nam province and the Lao Front for National Construction Committee of Se Kong province will actively engage with the respective provincial governments to strengthen the grassroots political system in the border area. They will also collaborate to monitor and prevent any attempts to destabilize the border areas and counteract activities by hostile forces that aim to undermine the special friendship and solidarity between the people of the two provinces. Additionally, the two local fronts will mobilize the participation of the people, particularly the Lao people and ethnic minorities in the border areas, in activities aimed at protecting borders, landmarks, and security.

Furthermore, the two sides agreed to create favorable conditions for the Front Committees of the bordering localities to strengthen cooperation, exchange experiences, and support each other in economic development, improving living standards, and sustainable poverty reduction. They also emphasized the importance of strengthening twinning activities between communes, clusters, and villages.

Ms. Bun-hien Bun-Chit, Chairwoman of the Lao Front for National Construction Committee of Se Kong province, expressed gratitude to the leaders and people of Quang Nam province for their support in areas such as human resource training, medical care, and economic development in the border area.
