General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith was on his first visit to Vietnam as general secretary and president for the 2021-2026 term, which took place on June 28 and 29, 2021.
General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith landed at Noi Bai International Airport on the morning of June 28.
On the same day, General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith held talks with senior leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam and witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation documents.
Events on June 28 included the signing ceremony of the Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the Laos PDR for the period 2021-2030, and the Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam and the Laos Ministry of Planning and Investment between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the Laos PDR for the period of 2021-2023, and the signing ceremony of the Cooperation Agreement between the two Central Offices of the two Parties for the period of 2021-2025.
In addition, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary Sisoulith also attended the signing ceremony of a cooperation plan, in the field of information between the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam and the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos.
The official friendship visit to Vietnam this time by the General Secretary and President of Laos is considered to have a very special meaning, that shows the continued affirmation of solidarity, attachment, trust, fidelity, purity, and friendship, of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the Party, State and people of Laos. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for the two sides to continue exchanging experiences in development and measures to promote the effective implementation of high-level agreements between the two Parties and countries in 2021 and the years to come.
