Vietnam and Laos agree to promote tripartite cooperation mechanism CLV

President of the Lao National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane left Hanoi on December 8 afternoon, successfully concluding his official visit to Vietnam from December 6-8 at the invitation of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Within the visit's framework, the two countries’ top legislators held talks, witnessed the handover of medical equipment worth 1.1 billion USD granted by the Vietnamese NA to its Lao counterpart, and co-chaired a seminar on exchanging experience between the two legislative bodies.

NA Chairman Xaysomphone Phomvihane led a high-level delegation of the Lao NA to lay wreaths in the Mausoleum to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh.

On this occasion, the delegation visited and worked with Guilin Group, in Binh Xuyen district, Vinh Phuc province.

During the visit, Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Sommad Pholsena, Head of the Steering Committee for the new National Assembly Building Project of Laos, had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, Head of the Steering Committee for the Construction of the new National Assembly Building. of Laos; listen to a report from the Office of the National Assembly of Vietnam on its experience in managing and operating the new National Assembly Building.

Lao Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Phet Phomphiphak held talks with Vietnam's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan on cooperation in agriculture, forestry, and rural development.

Regarding the cooperation relationship between the two National Assembly, the two sides have effectively implemented the Cooperation Agreement signed in 2017 with various cooperation activities such as exchange of delegations of senior leaders; organizing seminars with in-depth content, sharing experiences in law-making work; coordinating in monitoring the agreements signed between the two countries; support each other in the training of National Assembly deputies, People's Council deputies and staff of the Office of the National Assembly as well as building technical infrastructure.

The two sides agreed to continue organizing conferences and seminars to exchange experiences in the fields of activities of the National Assembly, including the organization of National Assembly sessions and activities of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Assembly, and the National Assembly. The Ethnic Minority Council, the agencies of the National Assembly, the National Assembly delegation, and the National Assembly deputies on cooperation contents of mutual interest, becoming an exemplary relationship in international cooperation.

In 2022, the two sides will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - July 18, 2022). The two National Assembly Chairmen agreed that the National Assembly of the two countries should have activities to celebrate the Year of Friendship and Solidarity between Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam in 2022; organize official visits by leaders of the National Assembly and Committees of the National Assembly, both in face-to-face and online format; organize a specialized seminar between the National Assembly of the two countries on the issues of interest to the two sides.
