On July 16, 59th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2021) and the 44th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Laos and Vietnam (March 18). The people of two countries live in harmony and friendship together on many rivers, mountains and forests together against a common enemy to win independence and build a prosperous and happy life together, as highlighted by the fact that Laos and Vietnam are neighbors with a common border of more than 2000 km, together leaning on the Truong Son mountain range..

Following a review of a number of important events in Laos and Vietnam relations, the article states that two events about the establishment of diplomatic relations and the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries have had a significant impact on Laos-Vietnam cooperation since then.

Education and training cooperation between the two countries continues to be promoted, the number of Lao students studying in Vietnam is constantly increasing. In Vietnam, there are now 16,067 Lao students enrolled in schools and educational institutions. In 2021, Vietnam planned to award 1,220 scholarships to Lao students, despite the fact that there were only 184 Vietnamese students studying in Laos at the time.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic is complicated, affecting many aspects of economic and social development, the two countries' continued support for each other has given the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, which has been affirmed in the Declaration, will be further developed and deepened for the benefit of Laos and Vietnam. This is a historic event in the cooperative relationship between the two countries, which has become not only a decisive factor in each country's revolutionary cause's success and victory, but also a rare model of relationship in the world's relations, which is becoming increasingly profound and intimate and is an invaluable heritage of the two peoples of Laos - Vietnam.

The year 2021 is significant for the Laos-Vietnam cooperative relationship since it marks the 59th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2021) and the 44th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Laos and Vietnam (July 18, 1977 - July 18, 2021). Currently, Vietnam is one of the leading countries in terms of investment and a major trading partner of Laos with two prominent projects, the Xekhaman 1 and Xekhaman Sanxay hydropower projects. In addition, the power purchase agreement benefits both countries by facilitating the development of Vung Ang 1, 2 and 3 ports. In term of defense-security cooperation, the two sides continued to achieve important results in many aspects, including coordinating and organizing the implementation of signed border agreements, protecting and promptly settling violations and crimes in border areas, coordinating the fight against transnational crimes, and promoting the signing of agreements on defense and security.

The two sides completed the planning phases for the construction project of Laos - Vietnam Friendship Park in Vientiane Capital, with favorable results in the domains of culture, education, science and technology. The incorporation of the contents of the Ministry of History of Special Relations between Vietnam and Laos into teaching at educational institutions in both countries in order to contribute to the propagation and education of the two countries’ people, particularly the youth, about their respective traditions.
