On September 2, 2024, Pasaxon and Pathet Lao, two of Laos’ leading newspapers, paid tribute to Vietnam's 79th National Day with front-page coverage. The articles commemorated the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945, marking the anniversary of the historic moment when President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed Vietnam’s independence in Hanoi, establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

The visit, made at the invitation of General Vilay Lakhamphong, Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Public Security of Laos, coincided with the 18th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime in Vientiane.
