Viettel Laos - an important factor promoting close bond between Vietnam and Laos

October 23, 2019, in Vientiane, Unitel - a brand of Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) in Laos held a ceremony to mark 10 years since they started offering telecommunications services in Laos. More than 400 guests including senior leaders of both countries participated in the event.

Attending the ceremony, Lao Minister of Defence Chansamone Chanyalath said the Lao Government highly evaluated Unitel’s contributions to Lao’s socio-economy development over the past 10 years, making it the largest telecoms company in Laos.

Unitel has supported Lao people to access telecommunications, bridging the gap between urban and rural areas, promoting socio-economic development. Currently, Unitel is constantly modernizing with the most advanced technologies: 5G, AI, VR, Big data ...

On the occasion, the Minister of Defence Chansamone Chanyalath presented the Lao Government’s first-class Freedom Order to Star Telecom Company for its great contributions to local socio-economic. Unitel also received the Third Class Independence Order awarded by the Vietnamese Government.

After 10 years, Unitel's accumulated revenue reached more than 1.45 billion USD, accumulated profits reached nearly 590 million USD with EBITDA (Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation) always maintained at over 55%.
