The Vietnamese military's yearly meeting in Vientiane focused on shared regional and international challenges

21st December 2022 post by MOIT Vietnam

As a result of recently initiated joint drills for responding to natural disasters, the armed forces of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam were able to strengthen the long-standing ties, friendship, and solidarity that have existed among them as good neighbors. This was made possible as a result of the fact that they are all good neighbors. The purpose of these exercises was to prepare for and react to natural calamities.

The beginning of the annual military meeting between the three countries in the middle of October in Laos, as well as the beginning of the joint rescue exercises between the three countries, served as the impetus for the remarks that were made. Every year, these three nations join together for a meeting to talk about various aspects of their militaries.

Throughout the whole of the exercises, participants were given the opportunity to hone their skills in search and rescue operations both ashore and at sea. Approximately 600 military officials and troops took part in the exercises, which included simulating search-and-rescue operations in the aftermath of a broad range of catastrophes. These disasters included floods, landslides, building collapses, and chemical spills, among others. As part of the training, many catastrophes of this kind were acted out as a simulation.

The military preparation of the three nations was founded on an all-encompassing strategic collaboration and cooperative arrangements that would be to the interest of each of the three governments individually.

The three military ministries, together with the administration, are cooperating to put on this training in order to honor the principles of independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, equality, mutual benefit, and non-interference in issues pertaining to the nation's internal affairs.

The reports that were made by the official media in Vietnam indicate that the primary focus of this year's annual gathering of the Vietnamese military in Vientiane was on discussing regional and international issues that are of mutual significance to both parties. This was the case according to the reports that were made by the official media in Vietnam.

It was decided to increase the number of combined search and rescue exercises, increase the number of possibilities for high-level visits, and work together to combat transnational crime. The following is a list of some of the possible future areas of partnership that were talked about during the meeting.

It is imperative that the governments of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia place a greater focus on cultivating a spirit of collaboration not only within their respective armed forces but also throughout the general people of their nations, particularly among the younger generations. This is especially important in light of the fact that Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia all share a border with one another.
