Thai Nguyen celebrates Laos’ traditional New Year festival

Thai Nguyen (VNA) – A get-together was held in University of Education under Thai Nguyen University on April 12 to celebrate the traditional New Year of Laos – Bunpimay.
The event drew representatives of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and local government, as well as Lao students in Thai Nguyen.
Along with traditional practices of Lao people in the festival, participants enjoyed music and dance performances by Lao students. The organising board also presented New Year gifts to Lao students in the locality.
In recent years, the number of Lao students taking courses in training facilities in Thai Nguyen has increased.
In the 2018-2019 academic year, about 2,000 Lao students are studying in 13 facilities from high school to tertiary and post-graduate levels in Thai Nguyen. The figure was only 27 ten years ago.-VNA
