Strengthening the Bond: Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia's Growing Friendship

The "Vietnamese families with Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City" program brought together Vietnamese families who have adopted students from Laos and Cambodia, as well as representatives from Lao and Cambodian families with children participating in the program, for an afternoon meeting and exchange program on August 16, 2023. Ho Chi Minh City's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee is in charge of coordinating this event, which aims to strengthen ties of friendship and solidarity among the Vietnamese, Laotian, and Cambodian people.

Tran Kim Yen, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ho Chi Minh City, presided over the event. Yen emphasized that successive generations of leaders and citizens from all three countries have nurtured the long-standing history of friendship and solidarity among Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. In spite of their shared past, present, and future challenges, the people of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia have grown closer over the years. They have worked together to build a stronger nation and have formed an everlasting friendly neighborly relationship that will endure forever.

The program "Vietnamese family with Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City" is highly valued and has great significance. As a result of the program, people from all walks of life in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as those from Laos and Cambodia who are studying abroad, have the chance to learn about and exchange ideas about the city, its people, their culture, and their history.

Students from Laos and Cambodia who are studying abroad may develop their emotional well-being, material well-being, and spiritual lives by immersing themselves in Vietnamese everyday life and traditional culture via this program. Concurrently, remind the youth of all three countries that it is their duty to preserve and strengthen the historic bond of friendship and solidarity that has existed between them.

The "Vietnamese families with Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City" exchange program will take place from August 15th to 19th, 2023. During the program, families from participating countries will have the opportunity to meet Vietnamese families who have taken in Lao and Cambodian students, see the classrooms where over 160 Lao and Cambodian students are taught at Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University, participate in activities designed to give participants a taste of Vietnamese family life, and visit some of Vietnam's most famous landmarks and beautiful natural attractions.

The program "Vietnamese families with Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City" attracted a total of 67 Vietnamese families, 91 Lao students, and 14 Cambodian students this year. Through the program, students from both nations have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Vietnamese family life and community culture, which may enhance their spiritual and material well-being while they study abroad and improve their Vietnamese language skills.

Enrollment for the program in 2022 was among 33 Vietnamese families and 48 pupils from Laos and Cambodia. The students from Cambodia and Laos met and exchanged ideas, learning about each other's cultures and histories. Celebrate the Lunar New Year with the Laotian and Chinese communities, attend the Ao Dai Festival, immerse yourself in Vietnamese culture, and see some of the country's historical landmarks.
