Laos Makes the Cut: Among the 23 Best Places to Visit in 2023
On January 2, 2023, the prestigious American television network CNN named Laos as one of the top 23 travel destinations worldwide.
All of this evidence points to Laos's tourism industry's enormous potential. The only landlocked country in Southeast Asia, it boasts untouched tropical forests, lush vegetation in the north, and fertile fields in the south. The locals are extremely welcoming, and the place has a rich cultural heritage and deep historical roots that contribute to a strong sense of national pride. The aforementioned elements work together to make Laos a stunning country that many people want to visit.
When the Laos railway opens at the end of 2021, it will link the modern city of Vientiane with other major urban centers and popular tourist destinations in the country's north, including the cities of Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang, Muang Xay, and many others. The busiest city of Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, China is a big boost to the tourism development of this country. Travel time over perilous, winding mountain passes is reduced as a result of improvements in transportation.
Given these factors, Laos has a great opportunity to develop its tourism industry into a world-class tourist hotspot in the years to come.
