Lao Kip depreciation compared to the Baht affecting importers in Laos

The continuous Lao Kip devaluation against the Thai Baht has greatly affected Laos’ enterprises, especially importers. According to the exchange rate at Lao Foreign Trade Bank (BCEL) on September 2, 2019, 01 Thai Baht was being sold for 291.92 Kip and could be purchased for 289.73 Kip.

Vientiane promotes sustainable tourism

From 27-28 September, 2019, in Vientiane, the Laos Tourism Association Association organized the Sustainable Tourism Solutions Exhibition (STSE) 2019 to promote Laos' tourism industry with the theme " Discover responsible, eco-friendly tools to grow your business ".

Nam Ou 1 hydropower project will be done by the end of 2020

On September 16, 2019, the Socio-Economic Newspaper reported that Nam Ou 1 Hydropower Project, one of 07 ladder hydropower projects located on Nam Ou River, with a designed capacity of 180 MW. The construction, invested and developed by Sainohaido Company - a China company, was built in 2016, now reaching 85% progress.

Floods cause rising in prices of rice and pork, Laos limits rice exports

Floods affected about 147,619 ha of growing field, many farms and irrigation systems, which has led to an increase in rice prices about 500 - 1,000 Kip / kg, and in pork prices by about 5,000 Kip / kg. The high price of rice and pork due to lack of supply has affected the export of these goods.
