On the afternoon of June 3, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính received Khamphan Phommathat, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee, Head of the Central Anti-Corruption Committee, and Chief Inspector of Laos, along with a high-level delegation from the Central Inspection Committee and State Inspectorate of Laos, who are visiting and working in Vietnam.

Welcoming Khamphan Phommathat and the Laotian delegation, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính emphasized that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam always highly value and prioritize the strengthening and maintenance of the special Vietnam-Laos friendship. Vietnam stands ready to cooperate and support Laos in building an independent and self-reliant economy.

The Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee, Chief Inspector of Laos, expressed satisfaction with the deepening and practical development of the Vietnam-Laos cooperation in recent times.

Both sides are actively and seriously implementing the agreements reached by the top leaders and the 2024 cooperation plan between the two governments. They continue to maintain delegation exchanges at all levels; bilateral trade turnover in the first four months of the year reached approximately 620.6 million USD, an increase of over 10% compared to the same period. They are also working to resolve issues in key projects and encourage Vietnamese businesses to explore and invest in Laos, focusing on priority sectors for Laos. Cooperation in defense, security, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges is also being actively promoted.

The Prime Minister praised the cooperation between the Central Inspection Committee and the State Inspectorates of the two countries, noting the positive results achieved. The agencies regularly exchange and share experiences in inspection work, citizen reception, complaint resolution, and anti-corruption efforts. They also organize short-term training courses to enhance skills in inspection work and have established mechanisms for receiving and resolving complaints from citizens of one country residing in the other, following each country's laws.

Looking forward, the Prime Minister suggested that the state inspectorates of Vietnam and Laos coordinate to develop plans for implementing high-level agreements and existing cooperation mechanisms, as well as the outcomes of the 46th session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee.

In the economic field, the Prime Minister proposed that both sides enhance cooperation in border trade and promote projects that connect transportation and commerce, such as the Vung Ang port and the Hanoi–Vientiane expressway.

Sharing some experiences in socio-economic development, macroeconomic management, inspection, citizen reception, complaint resolution, and anti-corruption, the Prime Minister encouraged both sides to increase the exchange of experiences and cooperation in inspection, complaint resolution, and anti-corruption. He also suggested continuing to organize training courses to improve inspection skills for officials from both countries.

Prime Minister Phim Minh Chinh emphasized that, given the complex and unpredictable developments in the region and the world, the unity and cooperation of countries are essential. He called for Vietnam and Laos to strengthen cooperation to jointly address common challenges, adapting to the specific circumstances, conditions, and needs of each side. He affirmed Vietnam's support for Laos in successfully assuming international responsibilities in 2024, including its role as the ASEAN Chair in 2024.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for the meeting, Khamphan Phommathat, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee and Chief Inspector of Laos, shared that the high-level delegation from the Lao State Inspectorate had a very successful discussion with the Vietnamese Government Inspectorate on inspection work, citizen reception, complaint resolution, and anti-corruption.

Briefing the Prime Minister on the socio-economic situation and the status of inspection, anti-corruption efforts in Laos, Khamphan Phommathat expressed the desire to continue receiving cooperation, support, and assistance from the Party, State, and people of Vietnam. This includes sharing experiences in macroeconomic management, institutional and legal reforms, and enhancing the capacity, expertise, and effectiveness of inspection, complaint resolution, and anti-corruption efforts.

Khamphan Phommathat affirmed that he, along with the Central Inspection Committee, the Anti-Corruption Committee, and the State Inspectorate of Laos, would continue to strive to preserve and continually strengthen the special friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
