Optimistic signal for Vietnam-Laos economic development cooperation

Two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Laos reached more than 671 million USD, an increase of 36.5% over the same period; in which exports reached more than 329 million USD, an increase of 19.1%, imports reached more than 341 million USD, an increase of 58.9%.

According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Laos, in the first six months of 2021, two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Laos reached over US$671 million, an increase of 36.5% over the same period; in which exports reached more than 329 million USD, an increase of 19.1%, import reached more than 341 million USD, up 58.9%.

Compared to the same period in 2019, when there was no epidemic, two-way turnover increased by 16.6%, of which imports increased by 49.3%, while exports decreased slightly by 5%.

Particularly in June 2021, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Laos reached over 100 million USD, up 22.1% over the same period last year (compared to 2019, when there was no epidemic, it increased by 18.1%).

The main export items of Vietnam to Laos are textiles and garments with over 1 million USD; means of transport and spare parts reached nearly 5 million USD; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reached nearly 5 million USD; petroleum reached more than 1.5 million USD...

The main products that Vietnam imports from Laos are wood and wood products with over 7.3 million USD; ores and minerals reached nearly 5.8 million USD; rubber reached more than 12.3 million USD...

It is expected that in July 2021, the turnover may not increase due to the complicated development of the epidemic in Vietnam.
