Following the establishment of the cutting-edge milking farm, Vinamilk Laos-Jagro plans to sell milk to Vietnam
Vinamilk Laos - Jagro is going to construct a fresh new milking barn in the Phaxay area of the Xieng Khuang province. This barn will have cutting-edge technology. When the barn is finally finished being constructed in May 2019, the firm plans to start sending fresh milk to Vietnam, and they have great hopes that they can start doing so as soon as possible.
The money for the first phase of the Vinamilk Laos - Jagro project is being provided by Lao-Jagro Development Xieng Khuang Co., Ltd. (Lao-Jagro), which has an estimated cost of US$120 million and is held 51% by Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk).
In an interview with the Vientiane Times, the Director of Agriculture and Land for Vinamilk Laos - Jagro, Sengpan Phetdala, stated that the company's herd consisted of one thousand dairy cows, all of which were imported from the United States in the month of July. Sengpan Phetdala made this statement about the company's herd.
Artificial insemination was used to get the cows pregnant, and it is anticipated that the milking process will begin in May of 2023, with a daily yield of 35,000–40,000 liters of milk.
In the month of March, the group has plans to bring in an additional three thousand cows, bringing the total number of cows to four thousand. If the breeding efforts are successful, the herd's current population of cows will more than triple, reaching 8,000 in total.
According to Sengpan, the company has farmed an area that is more than one thousand hectares, and its milking facilities, which have only just been finished, are equipped with machinery that can support eight thousand cows in terms of dairy farming technology. Sengpan's information was obtained from the company's official website.
He went on to say that once the project is completed and the full herd of 8,000 cows has been assembled, it will generate income, value added tax, and corporate income tax for the government, as well as direct employment for hundreds of Lao workers and indirect employment for more than a thousand people as a result of the expansion of production to provide food and services for the project. He also stated that it will generate income, value added tax, and corporate income tax for the Lao people. In addition to this, he noted that it would provide the government of Laos with revenue in the form of value added tax and corporate income tax.
A total of 24,000 cows will be able to find a home on the first phase of the farm, which will cover 5,000 acres. In the subsequent stage of development, the farm will undergo an expansion that will see it grow to an area of between 15,000 and 20,000 acres. This will make it possible to breed a total of 100,000 cows on the property.
It is possible that a combined financial expenditure of up to $500 million US dollars will be required to finish the two stages.
Due to its ideal geographical location, long history of dairy farming, and use of cutting-edge agricultural technologies, the farm has lofty goals of becoming Asia's preeminent organic dairy farm as well as a premier vacation destination. In addition to that, cutting-edge agricultural technology are used across the farm.
The farm has set ambitious objectives for itself, one of which is to meet the organic requirements of all three of the following markets: the United States, Europe, and Japan.
Vinamilk is, to put it more simply, the biggest dairy business in Vietnam, and it is also one of the top 50 largest dairy enterprises in all of the world. Vinamilk was founded in 1993 and has since grown to become one of the world's most successful dairy companies. Milk is distributed from this network, which it controls, to a total of 50 different nations throughout Asia. This network is the biggest Global G.A.P. farm network in Asia.
