Cooperation in technology transfer between Vietnam and Laos

Cuu Long University Vietnam has agreed to transfer appropriate technologies and train high-quality human resources to the Lao Department of Technology and Innovation. On the morning of August 13, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung and Mr. Santisouk Simmlavong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Minister of Technology and Communication of Laos, saw the signing ceremony online. The two sides will continue to hold seminars and collaborate in the transmission of new technology, according to the agreement.

Cuu Long University will assist human resource development, providing experts and technicians for seminars, and train technicians on technology transfer and innovation in real-world scenarios.

The signing is a continuation of the collaboration program inked in 2018 at the Promotion Forum, according to Tran Thi Hong Lan, Deputy Director of the Department of Technology Application and Development (Ministry of Science and Technology). Technology transfer from Vietnam to Laos. Here, the two countries' ministries, branches, firms, research institutes, and universities shared information, collaborated on research, and invested in science, technology, and innovation.

According to Ms. Khamyong Sichanthavong, Deputy Director of the Department of Technological and Innovation, Ministry of Science and Communications of Laos, various training activities and technology transfers from Vietnam to Laos have taken place after two years of implementation. The technique for processing commercial bamboo shoots for the market in Laos, the study and transfer of solar battery technology, and the sharing of the results of clinical trials of items to prevent African swine disease in Vietnam are just a few of them. Lao scientific and technical personnel have received ten 100% master's scholarships as well as Vietnamese language training from Vietnam.

According to Assoc. Luong Minh Cu, Rector of Cuu Long University, the two sides will continue to transfer technology, raise the quality of technological human resources, organize visits, and exchange experiences amongst high-level leaders in the period 2021-2025.
